IT’S TIME FOR CAKE!

Hi there,

Toward the end of last year, I was infrequent with my blogs.  I was on and off.  Life can get like that sometimes, eh.  My posts weren’t very cheerful as we have been and continue to go through some pretty hard times down here in Australia.

But this new year has bought with it, a new mindset.

Nothing can be done about the chain of events happening down here, the firefighters are doing the best they can, and communities are rallying and fundraising, as are celebrities and other prominent people with deep pockets.  So, although our problems are very much still there, help is happening and being gratefully received.  This is so heart-warming to all concerned.

On another positive, happy note – this weekend has been one for celebration.  My son turned 26, so along with the balloons (yes, we are all kids at heart, and we surprised him with glowing balloons!) we had to have cake.

It wasn’t just any old cake, either.  It was a Carrot Cake, made with love by his partner who has had the recipe in her family for many years.  It’s a family tradition, and the cake she made us did not let her clan down.  It was delicious!  It is even better than my Chocolate Cake that I have always made for birthdays for the past 30 years.  One taste of her carrot cake, and I was quite happy to step down and let her take 1st Place on the podium of best-ever cakes!

We have had a quiet but lovely weekend with celebrations.  The skies looked threatening and quite ‘juicy’, there was a hint there could be some rain.  What a lovely gift that would be from the weather Gods.  But that’s all it did – looked threatening.  We might have got 8 drops…?

Ahhh well, them’s the breaks.

Meanwhile, 2020 is the year of de-cluttering.

I also have a clearly defined list of goals to work on this year.  Nothing ground-breaking, just finishing projects, both writing and craft, and making 2020 and beyond, work for me.

I hope your 2020 has started off in fine form, but if it hasn’t; as Dori in Finding Nemo says, “Just keep swimming”.

Life doesn’t always fall together in an orderly pattern or row.  It requires some work, but with that, delivers huge satisfaction.  I’m hoping this is the case for all of us!

A fellow writer/friend of mine, Susan Mackie, has just released her new book, titled Charlie’s Will.  I like to promote books and authors, as we are all in this together and I’d like to think we all have each other’s backs. So, if you like the sound of a heart-warming Australian tale – give Charlie’s Will a go.
